Good Chat but bad Connectivity

I want to use the app for the communication of our companies developing team, but there occur some major issues in Connectivity in open wifi networks. If we use it at home or our company wifi, there is no problem. But in the wifi of the city or for example of the local university, it is not loading any messages. I suggest it has to do with some port stuff. But i am confused, because whatsapp for example is working properly, so a "simple" chst app like hipchat should work too, if you ask me.

This could be fixed in the next release, we would prefer that.
