Surely a company that makes developer tools can do better. You must use HipChat internally at Atlassian, how are the basics still so unreliable? For example, caching: opening a chat shows a cached message from ages ago. Why isnt it caching messages as they come in?
I updated to the latest version hoping it would be less buggy but alas the first thing it did was to send a message that was queued up and failed to send from a long time ago to someone on my recent chat list, this caused some confusion as I wasnt sure why this message was sent as I didnt type it myself, at least not right now. Also, the service has too much downtime. Its not worth paying for. There are continuous downtime and it happened over and over again over the past couple weeks and is simply unacceptable. I recommend Slack over HipChat, its just been a total mess since Atlassian took over.
The app randomly signs me out, or so it says. Ill still receive notifications, but wont be able to authenticate to reply or read the full message.
I have 6 plus and the newest version crashes every time I open it. Fix the bug asap!!!!
Hipchat isnt the best desktop experience, and its even worse on iOS. I feel like slack does so many things better than hipchat. To name a few: - inline code snippets - UI based message editing - push notifications that are timely - overall, snappier
Unfortunately I have to second the negative feedback on this app. I am not a power user at all but the messages in the chat take forever to show up. No fun for a chat centric app.
Literally crashes every single time I try to send a message.... for the last 3 months (multiple updates in that time period). This product is borderline unusable.
This is what my company uses so Im stuck with it. App crashes a lot, it doesnt show which conversations have new messages when you open the app, and it only allows sign in to one HC acct. Update-still terrible. Possibly the worst app on the App Store. Crashes so much now, it is useless. Update 11/23/16- the latest updates claim "Crashapalooza is over." This is probably the most inaccurate statement of 2016, which is saying a lot. The app is still virtually useless. I managed to send one message on the first try this past MONTH. The app crashes constantly. Awful.
I rarely write reviews, but this app is so bad that I feel compelled to write one. It crashes shortly after a slow start most of the time, even after upgrading to the latest version. The times that it didnt crash on startup it wouldnt be able to send message. Free apps such as Telegram are more reliable. Avoid Hipchat if you can.
Needs some work. Notifications dont work very well across desktop and mobile, the app crashes often
This is the first review Ive ever written. My company uses Hipchat, so I need the mobile app. It often crashes on startup, and / or will crash when composing messages. This app actually does not work. I hope it gets fixed asap.
This works fine for basic communication with my team in rooms and private messages. The enhancement that lets me respond from a lock screen alert doesnt seem to work. A few seconds after I send the reply I get a new alert "the message to (null) was not sent". You devs know what null means :)
This version does not work with onprem server anymore. The previous one was working.
The “new chat experience” definitely gives a new experience… in how incompetent clowns can create crap software that doesn’t work. I updated the app and it hangs. Killed it and loaded it again, it hung again. Uninstalled and reinstalled, thinking these dumb dumbs probably don’t know how to migrate from version to version and it still hangs. Looks like all touch interaction is disabled which makes the app unusable. How can this be released? Did no one look at this even once before shipping? How am I supposed to get work done now? Oh, right, Slack!
The app just sits there saying connecting for half my work day. Every update says they fix that then its worse. We are moving the Slack.
Ive yet to receive any notifications, push or otherwise, which means I have to guess if someone is trying to reach me. Ive tried fiddling with all the notification settings with no success. Worse, the app apparently counts me as being "online" and wont always send me email alerts either, meaning I can get a 1-to-1 message and never see it unless I happen to open that conversation later.
Very buggy notification function. Once you look at one notification the others reset so you dont know who is contacting you. Awful!! Fix IT!
Update breaks app and results in immediate crash on launch every time
Hangs on loading messages after backgrounded for a few minutes (and does not actually update). Switching to a different chat and back to the main room gets rid of the loading messages message but again the content is not updated. The only way to get the message updates is to sign out and back in. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not fix the issue. The same issue is occurring for another coworker as well. This happened a few updates ago and was fixed but the exact problem is back.
